International Aviation Academy of NZ (IAANZ)

The International Aviation Academy of New Zealand (IAANZ), located at Christchurch International Airport, is one of the country’s premier flight training institutions. Established in 1928 as part of the Canterbury Aero Club, IAANZ has a rich legacy of producing highly skilled and airline-ready pilots. Its location within a fully operational international airport offers students the unique advantage of training in a real-world aviation environment, preparing them effectively for commercial airline operations.

IAANZ offers a broad spectrum of aviation training programs, including Private Pilot Licence (PPL), Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), Instrument Rating (IR), Multi-Engine Rating, Flight Instructor Rating, and Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) theory courses. These programs are structured to align with global aviation standards, ensuring that students receive both theoretical and practical skills needed for a successful career in aviation.

The academy features a modern fleet of 28 aircraft and advanced flight simulators, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with up-to-date aviation technology. IAANZ is also a preferred training partner of Air New Zealand’s Aviation Institute, offering students enhanced industry exposure and employment pathways.

Accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and the Civil Aviation Authority (NZ CAA) under Part 141, IAANZ ensures high-quality, internationally recognized training.
