University of Salamanca

The University of Salamanca is a Spanish higher education institution, located in the city of Salamanca, west of Madrid, in the autonomous community of Castile and León. It was founded in 1134 and given the Royal charter of foundation by King Alfonso IX in 1218. It is the world's third oldest university still in operation and the oldest university in the Hispanic world. The formal title of "University" was granted by King Alfonso X in 1254 and recognized by Pope Alexander IV in 1255.


Scholarship


The University of Salamanca in conjunction with Banco Santander, Carolina Foundation and the Ministry of Superior Education, Science and Technology of Dominican Republic are offering 62 International Scholarships of Mobility for carrying out studies that lead to a master’s. These scholarships are intended for Latin American students in order to promote a mayor integration of the Latin American and European superior education systems encouraging the cultural and human contact between the students. The Scholarships covers the lodging and boarding expenses and they will also provide medical insurance

Salamanca - Language & Area Studies Application Requirements

  • 2.75 GPA or better on a 4.00 scale (GPAs under 2.75 will be considered on a case-by-case basis)
  • Sophomore, junior, or senior standing when program begins.
  • Some local university courses may not be available to sophomores.
  • 2 semesters of college-level Spanish or the equivalent.
