Derby University

Established in 1851, the University of Derby is a publically-owned institution for higher learning and research in England. It was initially set up as the teacher training college, called Derby Diocesan Institution. Over the years, several institutions have contributed to the formation of the university. The institution gained university status in the year 1992. The main campus of the university, based in Derby, consists of most of the administrative offices and academic buildings. It features a multi-faith centre, conference halls, lecture theatres, recording studios, concert venues, art and cultural venues, computer laboratories, outdoor pitches and athletic facilities. Students' Union Quarter is the seat of several students clubs and organisations at the university. They manage on-campus and off-campus, events and competitions focused on interests, such as sports, music, dance, public speaking, athletics and other recreational activities.
